GHG Illumina

GHG Home Decor is a firm based in Milan selling home decor articles from Germany, Sweden and Japan. They sell their product to wholesalers here in Italy and also help them with communication and product placement.

Illumina is a catalogue showing style and pairing propositions of the different brands that GHG promotes. As a designer I was involved to create the print layout and shot the compositions.

Photography

To study the photographic compositions I started analyzing how to enhance the materials by using the right light. The overall lighting is clean looking. I used rectangular softboxes positioned on each side with a frontal reflector to soften the shadows, softening the shadows was really useful for the printing process. The cover shot was done using the natural candle light in the background and glass vases in foreground.

When shooting commercial still life it is normal to have a lot of images. Here a sort of “stop motion” of the photography process.
